pt 1 of something
but it's this 2 to 3 week span in late JUly-early Aug that really gets me anxious BECAUSE all these teasing, sporting exhibitions & all the rumors are flying & everyone seems to be making early predictions & you can already see your squad filling out & in your mind you do thesequite in depth role plays- like if this guy can contribute this, or if that guy can fill in there & slot this in & slot that & points & all & etc., etc.,
& how many teams get stronger when they loose their best (by a country mile) player? NOt many, so that's something that I've got on my plate right now. If M.O. can regain certain ambitious & if I can figure out a way to fix it, damn right I'll call up ole' purple nose himself & straight up tell 'em-cause ya'll know how'n we's do it herr in Kantuckee,...(possibly attempting a prediction, a tried & true 1-20, something I've never done before)
so another friendly today (something called the Audi Cup) & 1 more before the Community Shield Aug. 9th which pits the winner of the previous year's domestic league & winner of the FA Cup, & then BAM! the weekend of Aug 15/16 & then you'll never hear from me again. (at least mid Aug-late May) Just know, it's coming & when it does, I'll be ready for it. England, Spain, Italy, Germany,...hear me now!,.............I AM COMING FOR YOU!!!
(more later)

local celebrity look-a-like (pt. 3)
Mini-me seems like a supreme dude, I only got to converse slightly with him, he's supposedly headed off to WI to do some serious grind pounding masters situation on the Italian words, culture, etc., but as the picture proves, there's quite the small resemblance (3.5-4.7) on a scale of 1 ta-& then on the serious gave thee all time best-best man speech at said celebration. Totally moved to almost tears & quite possibly could have shed-but a lot of meaningful stuff about family, & especially having an older brother to help you on your first day of 7th grade, etc. but I've been there & it really hit home-beautiful, moving,..but enough with the feelings & such-
sometimes you just gotta sit yourself down outside at the pool & do that thing,.....(note to special fans of this blog: you know as well as I do, I'd never be caught drinking a Miller Lite. Sometimes in art & more specifically photography, you have to immerse yourself in the character you're trying to emulate. totally devoted to my craft of smiling for the camera, & pretending to look like others, I grabbed the first bottle at my disposal, which was disposed of, & smiled!)

dunno. at one point the little flower girl called me Todd, & wouldn't relent. In her little mind, I was him. children are the future.

it's the stuff DREAMS are made of,...@you

& by that, I'm not entirely sure what I mean(half asleephalfawake mindset),..it's just I started this ep of the "O"riginality of all Star Trek (space science mystery solve-ation-fiction dinette set) problems. you know,...? but I dozed off like all beautiful, healthy, passionate, young men of this country-like on a saturday afternoon Brooklyn Heights walk down street corner thing, & it WAS beautiful...but that image? was it one of a dream, or reality? was Mr. Spock really in my living room dinette set holding my little furrbles as his own? was malice present in his halfhuman-halfVulcan heart? what was his intent? could it be as i'd dreamt in the past? was he delivering new hipster music to me whilst i dreamt of moons & monsters? the moonlight dark ally.. or was it my tight hipster jeans on the skinny cutting off certain blood flow mind awareness?
it's just the original series is effecting me in so many ways currently: the cheese, the colors, the mystery, the melodrama, the wit, the science!, the written word, the spoken word for that matter, the hairstyle, the make up, the sexual tension, the effects, the credits in bright yellow block letters, the intrigue. what must it have been like in the late 60's? the 80's feel. the insanity of it all.
but,..the band Here We Go Magic is from Brooklyn & are worth a check out listen to feel around poke. & they have this whole ethereal poetic sound meets falsetto sweep NY=world vibe-not out of place as Yeasayers younger brother & a cousin to Grizzly Bear (we all know what i think of those). the song Tunnelvision has a very constant feel to it. a pulsating heart-like there is a midnight task at hand-a stop motion star falls to Williamsburg-then this track Fangela has it's own outter vibe that laments Floyd & 1986 &world culture& this incessant clap in the background-impossible not to drop your head & turn it from side to side-synth elect. orb
& one more hot unknown capacity is surely austin/brooklyn's NEON INDIAN which i'll hear quite frequently on Sirius ch 831 (shout out to my boi Jake Fogelnest-what what!!)but you can grab a gander at-hot electro-funk 80's mix keyboard button press dance off situation. we're all hipsters at heart, aren't we?

correspondence & the like
Good morning Benton,
How does this (2nd) dreary day find you?
Have you heard any of the Monsters of Folk yet? They are featured on a recent NPR podcast. (I’m always telling you about these, I’m sure you’re aware-) Doesn’t sound exactly like I thought it would, (not a lot of folk involved) but definitely has that sort of “super group” feel to it that I usually don’t care for. See under The Raconteurs & also 99% of the charity/benefit recordings. Also featured is some artist called Yim Yames covering George Harrison. Yim sounds strikingly familiar to someone, I just can’t place it. He’s got this whole beautiful falsetto Louisville thing going on, weird. We shall see I guess. Just never understood the reason why artists feel the need to combine with peers & create such a similar sound to that of which they've already created. I just realized why I'm sitting behind a desk & not behind a guitar.......
Shaun has taken his reporting of comic con to a totally new & exciting level. I counted close to 10 tweets in one day, a record for his kind. Despite the fact that I’m enjoying the pics of the floor & booths, etc., he sent me one late last night (that woke me up!) by email that was simply titled “how I feel right now”, or something of that nature. The picture, which I’ll show you, or, you may have also received it, is him parked in what looks like a hotel room chair, just starring up to the ceiling. He looks utterly drained & exhausted in the photo. Those dudes will come back more enervated than they can possibly imagine, & hopefully a handshake or 2 to tell us about. I'm still stoked for them.
Anyway, that’s all for now. Looking forward to maybe fellowshipping (sp) with you guys this weekend. Angela & I have already conversed & most definitely would enjoy a pint of Stella or 2 Friday evening. A possible return to Pazzos looms? Have you ventured out into any more sushi dealings recently? Someone has a birthday coming up, maybe a Seki visit is in your near future.
Yours in friendship,

word spread love flow jelly jam slice---the bread of life?...anyone? oh yeah, & the States.
Today I have on my brown corduroy pants that I've had for quite some time, brown Clarks Wallabees, which I've had for even longer, (probably since 17/18-circa Hanover shoe store-Melbourne Square Mall, Melbourne, FLA.) brown socks, & my current all time almost fav light blue dress shirt, sleeves rolled up with 1 to 2 week beard situation. No tucking in, & in some circles, what could be conceived to be a slight tan. The tan stems from my sick day activities.
Last night I finished the 4th season of a show called The Wire. It's probably the most realistic, gritty & CAPTIVATING! show ever. I may have mentioned it once or twice recently. The show has examined the various aspects of the drug trade in the great American city of Baltimore, but more specifically it examines the roles (in depth) of all the different players involved, i.e., detectives, dealers, lawyers, politicians, addicts, family members, & even school faculty---it ain't no cop show. or,...it's not just a cop show. I have 1 final season to partake in, which is 5, & am trying to schedule time for that in the next few weeks. Shows that The Wire is better than:
all of them.
Lastly, I want to just briefly mention 1 or 2 things about the beautiful game. Now, I'm sure most of you have seen in the news recently certain exploits of the USA Men's National Soccer team (here, we call it football). & hopefully I don't need to go into detail what happened, what it means, etc., but a massive game for them on Sunday that they ultimately lost, but where were you when that 2nd goal went in(?), & for the next, I don't know, 15-20 minutes the States were 2-nil up on Brazil, & you just thought that this was going to be it,.......& ya know what's funny? Why do I feel more passion & purpose supporting another country as my #1? It makes perfect sense in my mind, but can it even be put into words & explained to another human being? Is it wrong of me? Would not an outsider scoff in amazement in regards to my loyalties/affiliations? Will the English ever accept me as one of their own? Where were you in '98 when Michael Owen scored that incredible goal v Argentina? (16) Who is anyone to judge me? Are these simply sports teams at the end of the day? Am I a modern day Aldrich Ames or maybe even J. Iscariote? These are all questions for another day & more importantly than them are the 2 fingers (V!) I hold up to the mainstream American sports press. You know why,....?
We don't need you!! Hey, this is America right? home of the cable television, DVR, satellite dish, European corner pub, underground football culture. It's so easy to get a fix. Point??? (i'll attempt a solidified clarification) If these bone heads don't get football, aren't impressed by the skill, then fine! At what point does it come down to supporting your country a little? If I can get up for the States in a country that (mostly) could care less about this sport, then surely someone who covers sports for a living can. Listen, Soccer has been supposedly close to blowing up now in this country for the better part of 15 years, possible even 30-35 if you count the whole Pele' thing. But it hasn't yet. Why? I mean it's grown, sure, but on a grand scale, hosting the World Cup in '94 didn't do it, MLS hasn't done it, The Men's Semi-Final squad of '02 didn't do it, the Beckham experience for sure hasn't done it, I could go on, but more importantly than Why(?) is the fact that it's probably never going to get past 5th or 6th most popular in this country. Hey, that's OK! If you don't get it, fine. I don't hear Jim Rome or any of those other guys on PTI or whatever complaining as to why Euro football snobs like me haven't been keeping up with the NFL salary cap issue, or the MLB steroid hearings. Like I said, I'm not lacking for coverage. end-out of breath.
I know this is random & scattered, but important to me & something I needed to get out, kind of like vomit in a way.
