Wolf Parade - At Mount Zoomer
Photobucket

(this is starting to get really fun,..)

a fantastic surprise album for me in'o8, this indie rock band from Montreal, Quebec released their 2nd album to strong reviews in June. Recorded in Petite Église, the Quebec church owned by Arcade Fire, At Mount Zoomer is a proggy art rock album that at times feels unfocused but brilliant, calm but throbbing, & hectic but a bit calm.

The album also displays a small hint of the experimental side, which is a return to similar themes from their first album, Apologies To The Queen Mary. Zoomer extends a more spacious feel than its predecessor thus allowing the band to explore their sound with their 2nd effort.

If yesterday's Cardinology felt like a first album from a new band, then Zoomer feels just the opposite. Wolf Parade make leaps & bounds in their evolution as a band by discovering a more melodic sound with breadth & depth on their 2nd effort as a band.
