last night, pt. 25 (words put together for descriptions & nonsense)

so yeah, 3 really cool bands last night & now reporting on the situation. (but hottest venue ever, like totally almost died due to heat-exhaustion-suffocation-dehydration-amalgamation-situation)hehehaha

First up was Ra Ra Riot- & I thought to myself how young & naive they looked up there, but what a sound they have & the potential to grow on that sound. Like Vampire Weekend's younger, slightly innocent brother who hangs out with a few really cute 19 year old girls who play some sort of string instrument - but I guess a really "clear" sound when they perform live - & again an incredibly cool band - but I think they'll have to grow as performers & am sure to be following them as their sounds evolves.

& then,..Cold War Kids - who are from Long Beach or some "cool" place like that, but totally rocked out, like really tight-edgy-almost slightly funk sound & it was cool how they would always end up playing really close to each other on stage- which again helped to deliver this tight little crisp sound. & maybe the coolest ever background-mural hanging & peering & quite possibly freakin people out, but it was this huge, 30-foot skeleton, just peeping out, up there by itself. I believe it was some form of their most recent album cover, but again super cool. & most importantly, it brought out that one dude in the entire theater who stood up & rocked out their whole set while all the lame asses sat down - & it's safe to say he was quite possibly a minor hero of mine at that moment & definitely got a Chula fist, raised high in the air for all to see.

Death Cab- which is a band that I have seen before, actually at the same venue - but I soon started to realize how important that band actually is to me on a personal level, solely for the reason that when I originally found them in 2005 I was a totally different person, & some of their music helped to shape me a little better - they were one of the first few bands that I really got into post DMB period - & for that, I'm very thankful to them. & I haven't even pulled out some of their stuff recently but standing there & hearing some of these old indie-rock/poppie tunes from (i guess even when i was in) college - some of "it" all came back to me & I really enjoyed their set - & man hasn't ben gibbard scaled down on the cheeseburgers lately??

but ok, a good night & great Co. to hang with & let's see, we ended up with a free vanilla bean cheesecake (somehow) at the pub situation & i got invinited into at nightclub/booty dance situation called "raw" by the bouncer - I guess he thought i had a curious look on my face. & it's safe to say your author wouldn't have fit into the current clientel - quite possibly eaten up & spit out but hey, thanks for the invite my brotha'.

& one last thing - literally heading ou tthe door in a quick minute to Lexington's Alfalfa. & if you don't live in the Greater Lexington Metro Area then you can just dream - but if you do live in this hood, then why aren't you eating at this place? you should,..there will be cinnamon coffee & omelets & such & let's face it, what else is needed in life? except proper downtown situation & you get that - so with love to all & devotion & goodness & oh, come on United!!

This blog entry was one of your finest.

a) I hope that one day I could get the Chula fist pump.

b) The picture in my mind of the dance club you got invited into is pretty hilarious.

c) With a name like Alfalfa, it has to be good, right?
