5 days & counting - think about it. You'll be able to tell your grand kids where you were, who you were with, what you ate that night - so on & so forth - but epic!
I won't say this book totally changed my life, because it didn't, but it did shed a new, bright light in my otherwise naive world at the time. The first time through you're struggling to even finish it before you reach your 70's - but maybe the 2nd read, it totally hits you & becomes clearly more than an interesting story about retired super heroes & a reflection of contemporary anxieties.
It's what can be accomplished in this medium - i.e. structure, color, style, i.e., the famous intertwining of another fictional story within the story itself, etc., etc., But I'm no expert on any of this - some of my mates are - but I'm telling you - If the filmmaker was able to accomplish anything remotely close to Moore's original 12 issues, then we are all in for a treat & something special to behold.
I'm not going to go into any detail about character development, plot, storyline, anything, that's for you to discover, but we at the mothership here are patiently awaiting, something truly great & awe-inspiring, I hope.
(Alan Moore was one of the first to bring certain challenging, adult oriented subject matter into the (stuttering) world of comic writing in the 80's. The Watchman is an epic tale of mystery, fantasy, romance, violence & also a landmark achievement in modern comics. The Watchmen is widely considered the #1 Graphic Novel of all time)
Much more coming this week,....
